Writing a blog is a very new concept to me; coming from the hippy movement of the 60’s, I am more accustomed to platform shoes, bell-bottoms, beads and peace & love. Simply put, I pride myself in being what most people would refer to as “old school”. I remember living in a simpler time which involved daily tasks like picking up milk and the daily newspaper from my front doorstep, walking to the phone box to make a call to a friend and sadly, standing in the winter rain while waiting for a bus. In light of this, I willingly admit that I can be a bit out of touch with the way the world, and more notably, technology, has evolved; even my granddaughter (who is 9 years old) is more of a techie than I could ever be. Seriously, even as I write this, I can remember using my Ibex typewriter, which is just a reminder of how old I feel!
However, through regular prayer and worship, I am also reminded that God never changes. Through His word, we are all reminded that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Coming into this new year of 2019, I feel that God is asking me to be very focused. I believe, for the church, it’s a very critical year and unsurprisingly, what we focus on this year will be the same thing we connect with spiritually. We are in a spiritual war and so is our Nation. But before you get too depressed, let me say that God is rooting for us and pushing us onward and upward. Here is a neat little tidbit about the word “upward”: it is a word that means “towards a higher place, towards a point or level”.
God wants us to look upward because we need to be living on a higher level; this is the heavenly realm where we rule, reign and conquer. We should be training ourselves to live in the heavenly realm because let’s face it: that is where we have come from and through the blood of Jesus, it is where we will return to. In the interim however, we are spiritual beings living in a sin-ridden world. But don’t despair: God’s calling us to LOOK UP! Let’s not focus on the things that surround us, but rather, what God has for us in our futures. Whatever you are going through in this season of your life, Look Up! Go forward! Press on! He has great things for you and we simply cannot be caught napping or slacking because we are running out of time. The clock is ticking.
Wow! I think I am getting the hang of this whole blog writing thing…
Until next time…
Blessings in Him,
